Our little escape artist is seventeen months old, as of yesterday. She's had a pretty rough week, as she's getting used to her toddler bed (the crib was converted after she climbed out a couple weeks ago) and she's getting over a bout of roseola. She is starting to get the hang of her new bed, and is really starting to understand her bedtime routine. She suddenly loves to say "buh-bye" these days, and often says it if she thinks someone's leaving the room, or if she thinks she's going to leave the room. In the evening she'll say goodnight to the dog and cat by kissing them and then saying "buh-bye dog" and "buh-bye cat".
She's starting to dance to music now... it's quite funny, as her dance routines tend to consist of shuffling her feet quickly for a bit, then shaking her head back and forth for a few seconds, then maybe clapping a couple times, and then stopping long before the music has finished. She only really dances to the tunes that her toys play; if we play real music, she's still more interested in just staring at the speakers, trying to figure out why the music is coming out of them.
She has twelve teeth now-- the four top front teeth, four bottom front teeth, and four molars. She won't let us feed her at all anymore, but she's getting pretty good at using a fork. A lot of food still gets thrown to the floor, usually followed by the same old justification: "dog!"
She still seems very tall, and weighs just over 24 pounds. Her feet seem to be growing quickly these days, as she's now outgrown her size 5 shoes. Her new shoes are size 6.5, though they seem a little big for her.
Her favorite animals are still dogs, cats, and ducks-- and those, along with "mama", "dada", and "car", are still her favorite words to say-- but she's starting to like geese and rabbits as well. New words include "goose" and "belt".
A sick and tired Ashley on her 17-month birthday:
